Environmental Organizations Indonesia

Description

Konservasi Indonesia is an Indonesian environmental foundation working on conservation and sustainable development.

It was established in September 2021 and since January 2022 has served as Conservation International’s main partner in Indonesia. It works with government agencies and other stakeholders on marine conservation, coastal and fisheries initiatives, and peat and mangrove ecosystem protection. Its programmes cover three geographic areas, Sundaland, Sunda Banda and Sahul Papua, including the Bird’s Head Seascape in West Papua.

The foundation develops conservation finance mechanisms, such as marine protected area user fees, tourism revenue schemes and trust funds, to sustain long-term management of protected areas. It supports government targets through national initiatives on peat and mangrove wetland strategy and marine protected area co-management. Partners include research universities, Indonesian government ministries, and other conservation and finance organizations.

Konservasi Indonesia is based in South Jakarta, Indonesia.
