Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor

Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor is a nonprofit human rights organisation working across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

It advocates for the rights of people living under occupation, war, political unrest or displacement, with a particular focus on youth. It documents and exposes human rights violations through news bulletins, video interviews and in-depth reports, and works to hold perpetrators accountable under international law. Its issues of focus include the treatment of civilians in armed conflict, the rights of refugees and migrants, women’s and children’s rights, freedom of expression, extrajudicial killings and torture. It also runs projects training young writers and Wikipedia editors from conflict zones to document victims’ accounts.

Euro-Med Monitor was established in November 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland, where it is registered and keeps its headquarters. It also has a regional office in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon, plus representatives working across the MENA region and Europe. It is led by a board of trustees and senior staff based in several countries.

The organisation says it refuses all funding from governments or political factions, relying instead on individual donations, project funding from independent international organisations and crowdfunding campaigns.
