Endangered Wildlife Trust

Description

The Endangered Wildlife Trust is a South African non-governmental conservation organisation.

Founded in 1973, it now runs more than 100 conservation initiatives across southern and East Africa. Its work centres on three imperatives: saving species, conserving habitats and benefitting people. It focuses on threatened species and ecosystems, including cranes, birds of prey, carnivores and other threatened endemic species.

The Trust carries out research and conservation action programmes that address the threats facing species and their habitats and support sustainable natural resource management. It also works on cross cutting issues such as wildlife and infrastructure, wildlife in trade, and biodiversity in business. It is governed as a registered trust with a voluntary board of trustees.

The organisation operates from a head office in Midrand, with regional offices in Cape Town and Howick, and programmes spanning countries such as the Drakensberg, the Kgalagadi, the Kavango-Zambezi area and East Africa.
