David Suzuki Foundation
Description
The David Suzuki Foundation is a national, bilingual non-profit environmental organization based in Canada.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Vancouver, with offices in Toronto and Montreal, it works to conserve and protect the natural environment and help create a sustainable Canada. It carries out evidence-based research, education and policy analysis, and regularly collaborates with community groups, governments, businesses and individuals.
Its current work focuses on three priority areas: climate solutions, thriving nature and sustainable communities. It seeks to cut carbon pollution, protect and restore at-risk ecosystems and species, and help communities reduce their ecological footprint. It has also joined legal action asking the Canadian government to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The Foundation is a registered charity funded by grants and donations, with individual donors providing the majority of its budget. It does not invest in fossil fuel industries and follows an ethical gift acceptance policy.
