Description

The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation works for justice for the murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, and for journalists and journalism everywhere.

It pursues her unfinished investigations through the Daphne Project, created together with Forbidden Stories, so that the stories she was working on when she was killed are still told. The foundation follows the public inquiry into her assassination and pushes for the reforms it recommended. It also monitors vexatious lawsuits used against journalists and the protest memorial dedicated to her.

The foundation campaigns on human rights, criminal justice and anti-corruption issues in Malta. Its work includes pushing for stronger transposition of the EU Anti-Corruption Directive and greater transparency in the financing of Maltese political parties. It helped journalists regain access to Malta’s beneficial ownership register, and it has opposed government legislation it says would encourage bribery, corruption and organised crime.

The foundation is setting up an investigative journalism centre in Malta. The aim is to pool technology, data, knowledge and resources so that investigative journalism becomes cheaper and more effective for the journalists who use it.
