CRIIGEN (Comité de Recherche et d’Information Indépendantes sur le Génie Génétique) is a French non-profit association, independent of biotechnology and chemical companies. It studies the effects of pollutants on health and the environment, and works on their detoxification. Its members carry out scientific studies, expert assessments and counter-assessments to better understand and analyze the health risks of biotechnologies, in particular GMOs and their associated pesticides, as well as many environmental pollutants, notably endocrine disruptors. The goal is to alert public authorities and encourage prevention measures that protect public health.

CRIIGEN draws on a multidisciplinary structure spanning molecular biology, microbiology, scientific ecology, population genetics, ecotoxicology, medicine, pediatric endocrinology, agriculture, sociology and law. This gives it an integrated view of the links between health and the environment. Since its creation, over more than 20 years its scientists have produced more than 60 peer reviewed international scientific publications. It informs the public through its publications, its website and information and training conferences.

CRIIGEN is active nationally and internationally, taking part in public debate on health and environmental questions. This includes dialogue with the European Food Safety Authority and conferences at the European Parliament. It also holds dialogue with the French food safety agency Anses and government ministries.

CRIIGEN is a registered association recognized as being of public interest since March 2016. It is based in Paris, with legal headquarters in Questembert. It is represented by Joël Spiroux de Vendômois.
