Coalición Pro Acceso

Description

Coalición Pro Acceso is a Spanish coalition that promotes ten principles in support of the public’s right to access information held by government bodies. It advocates that everyone has the right to request any information from public administrations and institutions without needing to explain why they want it or how they will use it. It also advocates the right to receive a response within a short period, in a clear and understandable format.

The coalition supports Spain’s transparency law, the Ley de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Buen Gobierno, which entered into force on 10 December 2014. Its founding members include university professors of information law and administrative law, an e-government specialist and the director of a masters programme in investigative journalism. They act as the coalition’s steering committee.

Other non-governmental organizations and individuals are invited to join the coalition as a way of showing support for the principles. They can take part in actions in favour of greater transparency of public administration.
