Description

Climate Action Network Europe is Europe’s leading NGO coalition fighting the climate crisis.

It is a coalition in which environmental and development organisations work together on joint advocacy campaigns. It has over 200 member organisations active in 40 European countries, representing more than 1,700 NGOs and over 40 million citizens. Members coordinate strategy, exchange information and campaign jointly on climate, energy and development policy across Europe.

CAN Europe empowers civil society to influence the design of climate policy in the European Union, its member states and other European countries. It works on climate action, the energy transition, financing the shift away from fossil fuels, international climate negotiations, a socially just transition, trade and climate, and industrial transformation. It also gives a voice to communities most affected by the climate crisis, including young people and frontline communities.

It is part of the global Climate Action Network, a network of environmental groups founded in 1989 that promotes government and individual action to limit climate change. Membership in CAN Europe is open to non-governmental and community-based non-profit organisations in Europe working on sustainable development and climate change.
