Citizens' Climate Lobby

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization that trains volunteers to lobby for climate policy.

It empowers everyday people to build relationships with elected officials, the media and their local communities, aiming to create political will for federal climate solutions. Volunteers are organized into local chapters that meet monthly, write letters to lawmakers, hold meetings with elected representatives and engage the public through local outreach and media. The approach is built on shared values rather than partisan divides.

The organization was founded in the United States in 2007 and has since grown to have chapters in dozens of countries, including Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Sweden and others. Its central proposal is a revenue-neutral carbon fee and dividend, a market-based approach that would charge fossil fuels at their point of entry into the economy and return the revenue directly to households.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby also holds an annual international conference in Washington, D.C., where members meet with and lobby members of Congress, alongside a smaller Congressional Education Day held each year.
