Centre for Investigative Journalism

Description

The Centre for Investigative Journalism, known as the CIJ, trains and connects journalists, researchers and editors in the UK and around the world. It helps them investigate and collaborate on projects that support quality public-interest reporting and accountability. It was founded in 2003 by the investigative journalist and filmmaker Gavin MacFadyen and others, in response to a decline in investigative reporting. It is an independent UK-registered charity based in London.

The CIJ trains journalists and their allies in the craft of investigative journalism. It supports public-interest reporting globally by providing expertise in the latest investigative tools and techniques. It serves people ranging from freelancers to some of the world’s leading newsrooms.

It delivers scheduled and bespoke training programmes and holds events and conferences. It keeps training accessible and affordable by subsidising fees and offering free-to-access initiatives for selected groups. It also works to defend investigative journalists and the people who work with them.
