Description

Carbon180 is a nonprofit organization working to design and champion equitable, science-based policies that bring carbon removal solutions to gigaton scale.

It engages with lawmakers, academic and scientific institutions, and businesses to fund and deploy carbon removal technologies and methods, including direct air capture, forest carbon removal and agricultural soil carbon. It publishes fact sheets, reports and policy trackers on carbon removal approaches. Its federal policy advocacy has supported legislation on carbon dioxide removal and carbon tax credits, and it runs initiatives such as the DAC Hubs program, a Farm Bill initiative, and an entrepreneurs-in-residence program.

Carbon180 was founded in 2015 as the Center for Carbon Removal at the University of California, Berkeley, and is now headquartered in Washington, D.C. It also helped launch the New Carbon Economy Consortium, bringing together research universities and national labs to study and scale carbon removal.
