Campaign for National Parks

Description

Campaign for National Parks is an independent UK charity that campaigns for the protection and future of the National Parks of England and Wales.

It was founded in 1936, originally as the Standing Committee on National Parks, later becoming the Council for National Parks before adopting its current name in 2008. It operates as an umbrella body, bringing together around 40 environmental and access organisations and individuals who care about National Parks. It receives no government funding, which it says lets it speak independently for these protected landscapes.

The organisation campaigns for nature recovery and climate resilience, equal access to National Parks, and the creation of new and enlarged National Parks. It sponsors and carries out research on issues affecting the conservation and enjoyment of National Parks and publishes reports on topics such as climate change and river pollution. It also works with Welsh organisations and the Senedd on devolved National Park policy.
