Campaign for Better Transport

Campaign for Better Transport is a UK charity and advocacy group that campaigns for better, greener and fairer transport for everyone.

It presses the UK and Welsh governments, mayors, local councillors and business leaders to improve transport, supported by thousands of campaign supporters. It carries out research and publishes recommendations, champions sustainable transport in the media, and works with local and national governments, transport providers, passenger groups and other charities to find solutions to transport problems. Recent campaigns have focused on protecting and increasing bus and tram services.

The organisation was launched as Transport 2000 in February 1973, formed by the National Union of Railwaymen with the Railway Industry Association, the Liberal Party Environmental Panel and others, in response to proposals to close parts of the rail network. It absorbed the Road Block anti-road-building campaign in January 2007 and took its current name later that year. It operates a linked charitable trust registered in 2003, and is based in London.
