Capitol Land Trust

Description

Capitol Land Trust is a non-profit conservation organization that protects natural areas and working lands in the South Puget Sound and Chehalis Basin watersheds.

It was incorporated in 1987 and has grown from a volunteer group into a professional land trust, accredited by the Land Trust Alliance for meeting national standards of excellence. It works by developing partnerships to conserve land for its ecological and community benefits, acquiring and holding conservation easements, and managing protected properties in Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason and Thurston counties in Washington State.

The trust manages several nature preserves that are open to the public, including sites near Oakland Bay, Black River, Shelton and Eld Inlet. It also partners with other organizations and landowners on conservation projects, such as easements that link wildlife habitat between mountain ranges.

It is based in Olympia, Washington, and works across the South Puget Sound and Chehalis Basin region.
