ANCON, the Asociacion Nacional para la Conservacion de la Naturaleza, is a Panamanian environmental organization that protects biodiversity and natural resources.

It works to protect and restore ecosystems, manage protected areas and a network of reserves, and support sustainable rural development. It promotes regenerative and preventive practices in productive, rural and natural landscapes to improve local livelihoods while caring for natural resources. In cities it encourages responsible initiatives to cut pollution and restore watersheds, paired with environmental education and awareness.

Its vision is to conserve Panama’s nature and biodiversity for present and future generations, and its mission is to inspire and contribute to protecting and restoring natural resources and ecosystems, guiding the country’s environmental, social, economic and cultural prosperity through environmental leadership and sustainable development. It owns and manages Punta Patino, a reserve listed as a Ramsar wetland of international importance. ANCON was founded in 1985 and has worked continuously on conservation in Panama for four decades.
