World Future Council

Description

World Future Council is a German non-profit foundation based in Hamburg that works for a healthy planet and just, peaceful societies for present and future generations.

It identifies, develops and spreads future-oriented policy solutions to today’s challenges, and it awards outstanding examples every two years through its World Future Policy Award. Its work covers the rights of children and youth, energy and just development, ecosystems and livelihoods, and peace and disarmament. It also runs an online database of proven policies for lawmakers.

A council of about fifty members from civil society, science, politics and business sets the organisation’s agenda and meets each year at the World Future Forum. The organisation was founded in 2007 by Jakob von Uexkull, who also founded the Alternative Nobel Prize.
