Whistleblower Organizations Australia

Description

Whistleblowers Australia is a not-for-profit association of volunteers who support whistleblowers. Many of the volunteers have personal experience as whistleblowers themselves. It describes itself as an association for people who have exposed corruption or any form of malpractice, especially if they were then hindered or abused. It is also for those who are thinking of exposing wrongdoing or who wish to support others doing so.

The association offers information, suggestions, options and contacts to people in this position. It does not provide legal or other professional advice, and it does not recommend lawyers. It also does not have the resources to campaign, run cases or fund cases.

Instead, it maintains a network of volunteer contacts across Australian states, organized by topic. These include legal strategies, freedom of information and public records access in New South Wales and Queensland. They also cover health, hospital and nursing services in Queensland, animal welfare and the live export trade nationally, and general support in Western Australia.

Whistleblowers Australia provides an introductory leaflet, a membership form, and historical, constitutional and policy documents for those wanting to learn more or join.
