Human Rights Organizations Italy

Description

Unimondo is an Italian online news outlet covering peace, sustainable human development, human rights and the environment.

It publishes daily, pluralist information and gives voice to civil society, including associations, movements, NGOs and campaigns in Italy and abroad. Unimondo was founded on 10 December 1998 by Fondazione Fontana ETS and has more than 450 partner organizations in Italy. It is the Italian node of the international OneWorld network, which began in London in 1995. Its archive holds thousands of news items that readers may download and reproduce for free, with attribution, for non-commercial use.

Unimondo also runs the Atlante delle Guerre e dei Conflitti del Mondo, a daily online publication on war, peace and human rights, with an English-language counterpart called Atlas of Wars. The project grew out of a printed atlas first published in 2009, an idea of Associazione 46° Parallelo ETS, founded in Trento in 2008. It also delivers training in schools and universities and organizes exhibitions and conferences.

Fondazione Fontana ETS, founded in 1998 and based in Padova and Trento, publishes Unimondo as part of its wider work on international cooperation, education for global citizenship and community outreach. Since 2021 the editorial teams of Unimondo and the Atlante delle Guerre have been merging into a single publication. Its mission is to work every day toward a fairer, more united world in which people can live with dignity and freedom, in equality, dialogue and peace.
