UN Watch

Description

UN Watch is a nongovernmental organization that monitors the performance of the United Nations against its own charter and promotes human rights for all. It was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Geneva, next to the UN human rights apparatus. It holds special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.

The organization works with civil society groups, dissidents and victims to draw international attention to urgent human rights situations worldwide. It says it combats racism, antisemitism and anti-Israel prejudice at the UN, and campaigns against what it views as double standards among member states. It has invited more than 100 dissidents from around the world to testify before the UN Human Rights Council.

UN Watch publishes reports on the elections of countries and officials to UN bodies and on the activities of UN personnel, and it maintains a database tracking how countries vote on Israel-related resolutions and serve on UN human rights bodies. It also compiles documented evidence on UNRWA staff accused of involvement in terrorism and incitement.

UN Watch receives no funding from governments and relies entirely on private and charitable donations.
