The Youth Cafe

Description

The Youth Cafe is a not-for-profit pan-African youth organization founded in 2012 and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

It works with young people across Africa and around the world to build community resilience, propose new solutions and drive social progress. Its work follows its Youth Manifesto and the African Union Youth Charter. It focuses on eight themes: peace and security, governance and political inclusion, culture, arts and sports, education and skills, business and entrepreneurship, universal health coverage, and environmental preservation.

The organization uses research, policy work and advocacy to pursue these goals. It runs membership, volunteering and internship programs, plus guided tours and grassroots fundraising. Its African Youth Foundation is an independent funding arm that awards small grants to youth-led initiatives. It aims to reach more than four million young people aged 16 to 35 across Africa, including refugees and people with disabilities.

A Secretariat of young professionals makes day-to-day decisions under the motto for youth by youth. An Advisory Board of non-executive directors guides strategy and checks legal compliance. The organization partners with United Nations agencies and other international bodies through its Group of Friends network.
