The Rivers Trust

Description

The Rivers Trust is an environmental charity that acts as the umbrella organisation for a network of member Rivers Trusts working on river conservation.

It brings together around 60 to 65 member trusts across Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland, providing river and catchment conservation expertise, data and coordination. The movement works to protect, promote and enhance freshwater ecosystems for people and wildlife, and runs a corporate partnership programme for businesses that want to support nature’s recovery. It relies on donations, projects, partners and grants to fund its work and that of its member trusts.

It was founded in 2001 as the Association of Rivers Trusts by four founding river trusts, and took its current name in 2011. Its headquarters are in Callington, Cornwall. It operates across Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
