Regenesis (non-profit organization)

Description

Regenesis is a Canadian community environmental and health organization that empowers students and communities as agents of change.

It helps students address environmental, health and community challenges through advocacy, education and hands-on local service. It develops practical, student-led initiatives that make campuses and communities healthier, more connected and more sustainable. Its educational approach is grounded in critical pedagogy, particularly eco-pedagogy, aimed at building lifelong commitments to sustainability and action.

Regenesis operates through independent, democratically run chapters at university and college campuses across Canada. Chapters host initiatives such as farmers’ markets, borrowing centres, free stores and community bike centres. It was founded in Toronto, Ontario, in 2007 by a group of students as a youth-focused environmental organization, and has since established chapters at institutions including Carleton University, Toronto Metropolitan University, the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto and York University.
