Presseclub Concordia

Description

Presseclub Concordia is a Vienna-based association of Austrian journalists and writers.

It operates a press club housed in the Concordia Haus, where members and outside groups can rent rooms for press conferences and other events. The association hosts recurring events, including expert discussions on foreign policy and an annual ball.

For working journalists, Concordia runs a legal service for journalism that offers legal advice and scheduled training sessions. It also maintains a separate legal defense fund for journalism that helps journalists cover the costs of legal disputes arising from their reporting.

Concordia also awards journalism prizes, including the Concordia Prize and an award named after Claus Gatterer honoring outstanding journalism. It takes public positions on media policy questions such as the reform of public broadcasting. The organization is membership-based, supported by memberships and donations.
