Oregon Wild

Description

Oregon Wild is an environmental organization that works to protect and restore Oregon’s wildlands, wildlife and waters as a legacy for future generations.

It was founded in 1974 as the Oregon Wilderness Coalition, later renamed the Oregon Natural Resources Council, and took its current name in 2006. Over five decades it has helped protect nearly two million acres of wilderness, more than 2,000 miles of wild and scenic rivers, endangered wildlife and old-growth forests across the state. It has also been a plaintiff in cases against federal land and wildlife agencies and the State of Oregon.

It advocates through education, public communication, direct lobbying, grassroots activism and litigation, working with allied groups to protect roadless forests, rivers, lakes and wetlands from logging, mining, dams and development. Its staff work from a main office in Portland and regional offices in Eugene, Bend and Enterprise, supported by a grassroots network of members, activists and volunteers.

It operates across the state of Oregon.
