netzpolitik.org
Description
netzpolitik.org is a German media outlet dedicated to digital freedom rights. Since 2004 it has reported on the political, social, technical and cultural questions raised by digitalisation. It covers areas from large data companies and security agencies to education, media and the environment. It shows readers ways to engage themselves for digital freedom and openness through the internet.
The outlet describes itself as journalistic but not neutral. It takes an explicit stance in favour of digital freedom rights and their political implementation, and this work has earned it several awards. A team of around twenty people produces its coverage.
netzpolitik.org is financed by donations. As a donation-funded medium, it publishes a quarterly transparency report on its income, expenditure and activities.
It is organised as netzpolitik.org e.V., a registered, recognised nonprofit association based in Berlin. It is listed in the Berlin association register and is exempt from corporate and trade tax. Its board consists of Anke Prochnau and Daniel Leisegang.
