National Association of Seadogs
Description
National Association of Seadogs, known as NAS, is a Nigerian charitable and humanitarian organization. It is the registered name for the group also known as the Pyrates Confraternity.
NAS is guided by the Pyrates Creed, which stands against moribund convention and tribalism, and for humanistic ideals, comradeship and chivalry. It began as a student confraternity at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and grew into an international organization. Its stated aim is to fight social ills and conformist degradation in society.
The organization now has branches across 36 Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as in South Africa, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States, Japan, the Netherlands and Canada. It carries out humanitarian and charitable work in Nigeria and in the other societies where its members live. Its charitable initiatives have included medical missions, support for street children, citizens’ summits and a charity red ball.
