MRAP

Description

MRAP, the Mouvement contre le racisme et pour l’amitié entre les peuples, is a French anti-racist organization. It grew out of a Resistance-era group founded in 1941 and took its current name in 1972. It campaigns against racism, antisemitism and discrimination, and works for friendship between peoples. It has also acted on international issues, including opposing apartheid in South Africa.

The organization defends the rights of immigrants, Romani people and other victims of racism, and opposes laws that restrict immigration. It brings legal cases, including against publications it considers antisemitic and against people accused of historical revisionism. Its legal service publishes a quarterly bulletin on court cases and legal news.

MRAP produces educational tools such as posters, short films, exhibitions and games to help people recognize and respond to racist acts. It publishes a magazine, Différences, covering racism in France and abroad. Local committees around France carry out workshops and outreach activities, including with young people.
