Environmental Organizations United Kingdom

Description

Green Alliance is an independent think tank and charity focused on ambitious environmental leadership in the UK.

It researches and recommends environmental policy, and works with businesses, NGOs and politicians to build political support for climate and nature action. Its work covers themes such as political leadership, a low carbon future, the natural environment, greening the economy and resource use. It carries out in-depth research and advocacy, often in partnership with other organisations, and holds events that bring senior decision makers into debate on environmental issues. It also hosts a blog, Inside Track, and a podcast on environmental policy and politics.

Many projects involve collaboration with businesses, academia and other NGOs; since 2013 it has run a Circular Economy Task Force of businesses, and since 2016 it has led the Greener UK coalition of environmental organisations working on post-Brexit environmental governance. Green Alliance has regularly convened chief executives of the UK’s leading environmental NGOs for joint advocacy on national policy issues.

Green Alliance was launched in 1979 to bring an ecological perspective into UK political life, originally as a group of eminent individuals from a range of professions. It is based in London.
