Description

The European Center for Whistleblower Rights is a nonprofit organization that works to strengthen whistleblower protections across Europe.

It says it is the only organization in Europe that combines campaigning for stronger whistleblower rights with giving direct assistance to whistleblowers, investigating corruption they expose, and working to hold wrongdoers accountable. It offers this assistance to citizens, employees, legal professionals, policymakers and elected officials. Activists, attorneys and policy experts on its team support people who report crime, corruption or threats to public health, and protect their confidentiality and anonymity.

The organization investigates and publicizes whistleblower disclosures and retaliation cases, and works with activists and journalists on cases and policy. It advocates for comprehensive whistleblower protection laws, monitors how existing protection systems function, and trains public officials on proper whistleblower protection practices.

It also co-leads a grassroots campaign pushing all EU countries to pass strong whistleblower protection laws that meet European standards, and advocates for confidential disclosure systems and financial compensation for whistleblowers drawn from monetary sanctions.
