Earth Rangers

Description

Earth Rangers is a Canadian charity focused on environmental education and conservation for children and families.

It aims to turn children’s concerns about the environment into positive action, building a generation of conservationists. It runs a free membership program reaching hundreds of thousands of kids through an app with missions, badges and animal avatars. It also delivers live and virtual school assemblies for grades one through six, featuring animal ambassadors, reaching hundreds of schools across Canada each year.

Other programs include Earth Rangers Clubs for classrooms, Project 2050, which encourages daily climate-friendly habits toward Canada’s net-zero goal, and symbolic wildlife adoptions that fund conservation projects run by researchers and partner groups. It produces two podcasts, one for younger children and one for preteens and teens, plus an educational blog and parenting and eco-anxiety resources for families and educators.

The organization is headquartered in Woodbridge, Ontario, at a green building that also houses its animal ambassadors. It was founded in 2004 by Robert Schad and Peter Kendall as a local group serving the Greater Toronto Area, and expanded across Canada from 2011.
