Dancing Star Foundation

Description

Dancing Star Foundation is a nonprofit organization working on biodiversity conservation, environmental education and animal protection.

It was founded in 1993 and is based in California. Its mission covers international biodiversity conservation, global environmental education and animal welfare, carried out through ecological restoration efforts, environmental field research, lectures, symposia, publications and films. The foundation also engages with indigenous peoples, human rights and holistic health, on the view that healthy individuals support a healthy planet.

Through print and film the foundation raises awareness of issues from biodiversity loss and extinction to non-violence and population growth, including a book and documentary on population stabilization and a photography book on animal sanctuaries around the world. It operates an animal sanctuary in Central California for rescued animals. It also documents biodiversity conservation research carried out by governments, other organizations and individual ecologists in various countries, and has funded an integrative oncology program at a university medical school.
