Conectas Direitos Humanos

Description

Conectas Direitos Humanos is a human rights organisation based in São Paulo, Brazil. It works on human rights issues in Brazil and internationally. Its institutional structure includes staff and board bodies and a transparency section. It publishes news on human rights developments in Brazil and around the world.

The organisation works through several initiative areas. These include democracy and the human rights movement, defence of socioenvironmental rights, and combating institutional violence. It engages in litigation and produces publications. It also edits Sur, an international journal on human rights, and organises an International Human Rights Colloquium.

Conectas participates in and organises public events on human rights. One example is an activity at the Pan-Amazonian Social Forum in Belém addressing the rights of indigenous peoples in recent contact. It was held with partner organisations including indigenous associations, an international working group on isolated and recently contacted peoples, and environmental defence groups.
