Environmental Organizations Hong Kong

Description

Clear the Air is a volunteer-based organisation working to reduce air pollution in Hong Kong.

It was founded on 10 December 1997 as a society and is a registered charity. It works through advocacy and public education, giving educational presentations in schools and supplying information on air quality to events and the media. It also engages with government and stakeholders to push for practical measures against air pollution.

Its membership exceeds 1500 people from across Hong Kong society. Areas of concern have included diesel vehicle and vessel emissions, traffic and road building, congestion charging, and pollution from coal-burning power plants. It has pressed government departments and utility companies to tighten emission standards and meet reduction targets.
