Buglife

Description

Buglife, the Invertebrate Conservation Trust, is a UK-based charity devoted to the conservation of invertebrates, from bees and beetles to worms and spiders.

Its aim is to halt the extinction of invertebrate species and achieve sustainable populations of them. It works by promoting the environmental importance of invertebrates, helping shape legislation and policy, developing and sharing conservation knowledge, supporting other organisations’ invertebrate work, and running practical conservation projects. Past campaigns have included saving brownfield sites important for rare invertebrates and challenging plans to eradicate ragwort, a plant that supports many bug species.

Buglife describes itself as the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates. Its head office is in Peterborough, England, with further offices in Scotland and Wales and additional presence in Northern Ireland and south-west England. It was registered as a company in December 2000, taking the name Buglife in 2002.
