Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society

Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society is a Bahraini human rights organization registered in Bahrain since 2004. It works to promote and protect human rights in Bahrain. It says it is committed to justice, equality and dignity for all people, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion or social status.

The society campaigns on women’s rights, including a personal status law to protect women in divorce and child custody, and on protections for domestic workers and migrant workers. It launched the Respect Movement, a petition supporting these reforms. It has taken part in Bahrain’s Universal Periodic Review before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, and has called for protection of minority religious communities including Jews, Baha’is and Christians.

It helped establish the Bahrain Human Rights Network together with the Gulf European Center for Human Rights. The society produces reports on topics such as parliamentary oversight, consumer protection and humanitarian issues, and holds conferences, seminars and a human rights camp for young people. It also runs public campaigns on unemployment, workers’ rights and national unity.
