Association Najdeh

Description

Association Najdeh is a Lebanese non-governmental organization that supports Palestinian refugee women and girls in Lebanon.

It was founded in 1976 by a group of independent Lebanese women during the civil war, to help Palestinian women displaced from the Tal al-Zaatar camp earn an income through embroidery work. It registered with the Lebanese Ministry of Interior in 1978 as an independent, secular, feminist and democratic association.

The organization works to advance the human and social rights of Palestinian women and girls, seeking gender equality and social justice within the Palestinian refugee community. It runs programs in vocational training, popular education, mother and child health, protection from domestic violence, microcredit and embroidery production, alongside advocacy on the right to work and the right of return to Palestine.

Association Najdeh operates centers in and around Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings across five regions of Lebanon: Beirut, Tripoli, Saida, Tyre and Bekaa. It also takes part in local, national, regional and international women’s networks and advocacy coalitions.
