Adalah

Description

Adalah is a legal center and human rights organization working for the rights of the Arab-Palestinian minority in Israel and for Palestinians living under occupation.

It was founded in 1996 and is registered in Israel as a non-profit association, independent and non-partisan. It is based in Haifa, with an additional office in the Negev.

Adalah pursues its goals through legal advocacy in Israeli courts and international forums, and by seeking changes to laws that affect Palestinians’ rights. It provides legal consultation, and trains new lawyers and interns in human rights work. It organizes study days, conferences and workshops, and publishes reports on legal issues.

Its work covers land and planning, civil and political rights, cultural, social and economic rights, prisoners’ rights and criminal justice, and international law concerning the occupied Palestinian territories. Its international advocacy focuses on United Nations human rights bodies, European Union institutions and foreign embassies based in Israel, working alongside international human rights organizations and networks.
