Stop Killer Robots

Description

Stop Killer Robots is a global coalition of non-governmental organizations that campaigns against lethal autonomous weapons systems. It was formed in October 2012 and publicly launched in April 2013, and is registered as an association in Geneva, Switzerland. The campaign calls on governments and the United Nations to adopt new international law requiring human control over the use of force.

It works through advocacy, research and public campaigning, uniting more than 300 member organisations in over 70 countries. Its Steering Committee, made up of NGOs such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Article 36 and the International Committee for Robot Arms Control, leads the coalition’s decisions. Through its Automated Decision Research project, it monitors global developments in autonomous decision-making technology.

The campaign engages policymakers, technologists, young people and the public through petitions, youth networks, research reports and multimedia projects. It has pushed for a legally binding treaty at the United Nations and tracks state positions calling for new international law on autonomous weapons. It also produces annual reports on its activities, finances and governance.
