Description

The Oklahoma Native Plant Society is a membership group that promotes the study, protection, propagation and appreciation of Oklahoma’s native plants.

It brings together botanists, conservationists and enthusiasts across the state through field trips, lectures, workshops and local chapter meetings. It runs Color Oklahoma, a project that plants and maintains wildflowers along the state’s roadsides, and supports the Oklahoma Native Plant Network, a network of growers and nurseries that cultivate native species. It also works with the Oklahoma Invasive Plant Council to educate the public about the harm invasive plants cause and to help control their spread.

The society publishes The Gaillardia, a newsletter for members, and The Oklahoma Native Plant Record, an annual scientific publication. It holds an annual meeting along with regular chapter gatherings in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas. The Oklahoma Native Plant Society was founded in 1987.
