Ciudadanía Inteligente
Description
Ciudadanía Inteligente is a Latin American nonprofit organization that, for more than 15 years, has worked to make democracy a shared, fair and transformative experience. It says it drives concrete change by training citizens, working alongside local governments, developing digital tools, building diverse alliances and researching threats to democracy. It does this in order to propose solutions that decentralize power and activate participation.
Its stated mission is to transform politics through collective action, accessible information, work rooted in specific territories and collaboration with a range of actors. Its vision is a region with an informed and organized citizenry, a strong civil society, open institutions, and politics that protects shared life and the sustainability of the planet.
The organization values collaboration, transparency, participation, information, democracy, environmental concerns, a regional focus and innovation. It is governed by a board of directors whose members bring experience in democracy, human rights and civil society, and who set its strategic direction.
Its executive team, led by an executive director, includes a general coordinator and coordinators for administration and finance, partnerships and sustainability, communications, and projects and research, along with staff working on environmental advocacy and democracy. The organization has operated since 2009.
