Human Rights Organizations Thailand

Description

FORUM-ASIA, the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development, is a membership-based regional network of human rights organisations across Asia.

It works to promote and protect human rights, civic space and democracy in the region by empowering civil society and marginalised communities. It carries out research, advocacy, capacity-building and solidarity actions with human rights defenders and other civil society organisations. It publishes statements, open letters, research and annual reports, and it holds consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and a consultative relationship with the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.

Nineteen organisations from nine countries founded FORUM-ASIA in Manila in 1991, and its regional secretariat has been based in Bangkok since 1992. It also has offices in Geneva, Jakarta and Kathmandu, and its member organisations and partners span across Asia.
